George Sibert

George Arthur Sibert

May 15, 1933 ~ January 27, 2016

Loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend went to his happy hunting grounds on January 27, 2016.  George was born in Wellington, Utah on May 15, 1933.  He was the first of nine children born to Earl and Neva (Thayn) Sibert.

George married his soul mate Donna on December 20, 1957.  They were married for 57 years.

He retired from Hill AFB with 37 years of service.  He loved deer hunting, fishing, boating, camping and playing pool.

George served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.   He was a member of the American Legion Dolan-Wetzler Post 139 for over 44 years.  He was their Commander and Department Sgt at Arms for many years.  He was a counselor and office assistant at Boys State for over 30 years.

George is survived by his wife and children, Darrell, Reva (Cory) Wood and Valerie (Mike) McIntosh.  Five grandsons, Timothy (Jullia), Sean (Amanda), Matthew, Conner (Elise) and Derek (Shianne); five great grandsons and a great granddaughter that will be here in February.  Brothers Ralph (Christiane), Ross (Barbara), Wes (Mary) and sisters Betty (Charles), DeLeine and Debra.  Many nieces and nephews too numerous to name.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother David and sister Pat.  In lieu of flowers (George called them weeds just to bug me) the family is requesting help with the funeral expenses.

Friends may visit family Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
