George Dustin Van Leeuwen
October 27, 1984 ~ July 25, 2018
It is with a saddened and heavy heart that the family of George Dustin Van Leeuwen announces his passing on July 25, 2018, at the age of 33 years. Dustin was born on October 27, 1984, with his twin brother Justin to parents Rick and Shirley Van Leeuwen.
Dustin was a man of great caliber and grit, he enjoyed a good joke and always put his family first. His warm and compassionate nature attracted people to him. He loved his career as a pawnbroker, working at the family business The Gift House. He felt blessed to spend his life working alongside his father, grandparents, and brother. Dustin particularly cherished working with his grandfather Scott; he was his right-hand man and shadow.
In 2012 Dustin married the love of his life Misty Dawn Johnston. A more loving and devoted husband didn’t exist. An Ogden native, Dustin spent many years skiing and boating with his family. He could always be found with his brother and best friend Justin. He excelled at trapshooting, and loved camping at the Eagles with his in-laws. He earned his Eagle Scout and was an accomplished DJ. Most of all Dustin enjoyed spending his time with his wife Misty and their two dogs Remington and Ruger. He had friends from every walk of life and he believed in treating others with kindness and respect. While his life was devastatingly short, it was a life well lived; full of love, laughter, and family. Dustin leaves a huge void in many hearts and the world will be a little less beautiful without his light.
Dustin is survived by his spouse, Misty Dawn Johnston; parents, Rick & Shirley Van Leeuwen; grandparents, Scott and Karen Van Leeuwen; siblings, Justin Van Leeuwen, Jared Van Leeuwen, Sarah and Neil Wills; in-laws, Chris and Brenda Harris; James Byrne, Marcel and Sandi Schwager; brothers-in-law, Charles and Leticia Stevens, Josh Johnston and Nicole Stark.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Copper Nickel, 2450 Grant Avenue, Ogden, UT. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
