George Henry Wilmot
SUNSET a" George Henry Wilmot, 81, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
He was born December 7, 1927 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota the son of George Aurthur and Evangelina Ruth Price Wilmot.
George was raised on a farm in Idaho Falls, Idaho until joining the U.S. Army, serving in the Occupation of Germany and the Korean War. He retired as a CMSgt from the Air Force Reserves in 1987.
George married his soul mate Hiltrud Josefa Linz on April 16, 1949 in Wurzburg, Germany.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and served as an usher.
George retired from Hill Air Force Base with 42 years of service. He was a charter member and volunteer fireman with Sunset City Fire, Volunteer Director of Retiree Activity Office at Hill AFB, volunteer at the Hill Aerospace Museum and the Antelope Island Visitors Center.
Surviving are his wife Hiltrud J. Wilmot, Sunset; son Terry Wilmot, Austin, TX; daughters Margaret (Donald) Mosher, Kaysville; Tam (Barry) Mosher, Roy; Sandee (Gary) Bruce, Hill AFB; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and brother Arthur Wilmot, Blackfoot, ID.
Preceded in death by his brothers Lon Wilmot, Ted Wilmot and son Gordon Wilmot. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 So. Chapel Street. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Prayer service 7 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden where military honors will be accorded by the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard.
