Georgia Heiner Stenberg Knight, age 86, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 22, 2024, after a struggle with cancer. Georgia was born on May 11, 1938, to Milo D Heiner and Lucille Crompton. Georgia was their first child.
At the age of five-years-old, the family settled in Morgan, Utah, where Georgia attended school there. While attending Morgan High School she participated in Morgan High’s marching band playing the clarinet. Her greatest thrill during high school was being chosen as a cheerleader. After high school, Georgia attended Weber College and worked the summers at Como Springs as a pinsetter and working at the snack bar.
During the winter of 1957 / 1958, she met a good-looking guy working on the expansion of the highway through the Devil’s Slide area. By May, she was engaged to John Lee Stenberg. They were married on October 3, 1958, in the Manti Utah Temple. Shortly after their marriage, they located to Weber County and Georgia started working at Hill Air Force Base as a secretary. John started his own construction business a few years later, and Georgia served as his secretary-bookkeeper for over 40 years. After her children were grown, Georgia went back to work at Hill Air Force Base and later retired from there.
John and Georgia were active in the Jaycees and Jaycettes for many years. She served in Jaycettes in various positions both locally and at the state level. Georgia was a life-long active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in a variety of positions where she was loved by the children, youth, and fellow leadership. Together John and Georgia served three missions and served in their local temples.
Georgia’s greatest joy was being a wife and mother of four beautiful children, Toni Lee Garner, Farr West, Utah; Kristy Jo Olsen, Kimberly, Idaho; John Michael Stenberg, Kimberly, Idaho; and James Daniel “Dan” Stenberg, Tremonton, Utah. The family has many great memories of camping, boating, snowmobiling, and visiting grandparents and cousins in Morgan and Sanpete counties.
Georgia and John moved to Kimberly, Idaho, in 2018 to be close to their daughter, Kristy. After John’s death in 2020, Georgia married David Knight in 2021in Riverdale, Utah.
