On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, Georgia Whitaker Rohde, beloved wife and mother, passed away at home in Liberty, Utah. She was 76.

Born to George and Lois Whitaker in 1942, Georgia was beautiful, bright, kind, and creative. She was sealed to her sweetheart, Richard W. Rohde, in 1961.

Georgia was the mother of five children, grandmother of 19, and great-grandmother of two (and counting)! She nurtured, loved, supported and served each member of her family. One of her greatest joys was gathering them together to share food, fun and faith.

Georgia’s life was truly one of service. She volunteered, showed up, shared, taught, and worked tirelessly for the comfort and well being of others. Skillful, generous, and talented, Georgia shared her love of music and testimony of Jesus Christ throughout her life in meaningful ways.

Georgia and Richard lived and raised their family in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1967 to 1982, in Livermore, California until 1992, then back in New Mexico until 2001. They retired in Liberty, Utah where Georgia created a haven and playground paradise for her grandchildren.

Georgia’s natural grace and kindness were evident throughout her life and to the very end. Even when words were scarce, she loved others with her ready smile and twinkling eyes.

Richard Rohde and his family express sincere gratitude to the caregivers of Legacy Healthcare and the members of the Liberty Second Ward who tenderly ministered to Georgia during her final weeks on earth.

Georgia’s life will be commemorated and funeral service held, on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Liberty Ward, 4279 North 3300 East in Liberty, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Liberty Cemetery.
