Gerald Lynn Gibson
Gerald Lynn Gibson, age 57, of Clearfield, Utah passed onto the next life on Saturday, November 10, 2007 after a 30 year battle with MS. He was born December 2, 1949 to Sanders Boyd Gibson and Nevalee Wampler Gibson in Castlebrook, Idaho. He grew up in Buel, Montana and Clearfield, Utah and spent his boyhood fishing, jumping rope, and was on a speed skating team. He also enjoyed traveling with his parents including yearly trips to Arkansas.
Gerald graduated from Clearfield High School in 1968 and worked for Albertsons for 16 years, but always said he was still on the payroll. He volunteered for the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and was honored by the State of Utah for Volunteer of the Year in 1989. Gerald owned cattle in Arkansas and went there every year to count them. He also invested in real estate in Park City, Utah.
Gerald had a tenacious love of life and for all that knew him. You never found Gerald complaining about anything, he always said his illness was just an inconvenience. He had gratitude for life and for all that he was blessed with. He was gracious and appreciative for his caregivers, for example Rick Christensen who cared for Gerald for 20 years. Gerald had many close friends, some like a brother to him, and he always opened his home with a warm greeting and a cold beverage of your choice. He loved the finer things as well as the simple. Most would remember Gerald with a crisp clean polo shirt and a clean cut smile. He enjoyed driving luxurious vehicles like corvettes, porsches'', and a beautiful jeep. He would give anything a try once. He enjoyed traveling to his condo in Park City, skiing, golfing, and mostly spending time with his friends.
He is survived by his mother Nevalee Gibson, Aunt Christine Carter, step-sister Janice Charbula, cousins, and many friends that loved him dearly. Gerald was preceded in death by his father Boyd Gibson, step-mother Burnadean Hoopes Gibson, Uncle Max Carter, Uncle Clark and Aunt Edeth Wampler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery, 1050 South State Street. The family would like to give a special thanks for the loving care of his nurse Cynthia Richins and all the caregivers from Vista Care Hospice.
