Gerald Bird Kirby

After many years suffering with Alzheimer’s, Jerry finally is free. Jerry passed away on March 24, 2021.  He was born to Harold and Ethel Kirby on February 18, 1932 in Salt Lake City.  Jerry and his little sister Carma had a wonderful childhood together. He attended South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah graduating in 1950.

Jerry joined the Navy in February 1951 and fought in the Korean War. There he learned to be a helmsman and signalman.

He married Marla Frint on August 14, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had four children, Crystal Williams (Ron), Nanette Jeppsen (Harv), Katrina Draper (Mark), and Kip. They later divorced. He married Shirley Graham on November 8, 1996 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They were later sealed for eternity on June 15, 2005 in the Bountiful Utah Temple.

He was an incredibly talented artist and used that talent to create a lifelong career as a draftsman and eventually owning his own construction company. He built many beautiful homes and cabins in Utah and Colorado.

Jerry enjoyed the outdoors more than anything else.  He loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping. Some of the family’s favorite memories were the trips to cut down Christmas trees every year.

Jerry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had a strong testimony of the Savior. He was charitable, always willing to help others no matter the circumstances. He will be remembered for his kindness.

Jerry is survived by his wife Shirley, his sister Carma, his four children, 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, four step-children, 15 step-grandchildren, and six-step great grandchildren.
