Gerald "Jerry" Nicholas Perucca

Gerald Nicholas Perucca passed away on May 15, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 28, 1933 to Nicholas and Virginia Perucca in Ogden, Utah. They moved to Ely, Nevada and later, Twin Falls, Idaho and returned to Ogden at the age of 13. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He married Joanne Stewart on August 26, 1954 and is survived by his wife, children, Nick (Jan), Mike (Tami), Paul Perucca and Nancie (Rich) Lewis; grandchildren, Alex and Katie Perucca, Cory Perucca, Megan Kendell, Micah Judkins, Nick Perucca, Justin Morgan, Angelina Perucca, Andrea and Nikkie Ward; great-grandchildren, Allison and Katelyn Perucca, Sam, Tyler and Lucy Montgomery, Boston and Finn Judkins, Carman Perucca and Charlie Ward; brother, Jim (Donna) Perucca; and sister, Barbara (Steve) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert; and grandchildren, Cody and Katie Perucca.

His family was his greatest accomplishment and he loved them all dearly.

Jerry joined the Navy and loved the time he spent on aircraft carrier U.S. Kearsage.

He had been employed at Swift & Co., retired from Hill Air Force Base and was owner of A-1 Uniforms in Utah and Abby''s Antiques in Ogden. Jerry grew close to the girls at A-1 and friends at Abby''s. They were like a second family to us and he will miss them greatly. He taught his children strong work ethics, great business skills and most of all to be the best parents to their children. He was so proud of all of them.

When the kids were growing up we spent the summers at Bear Lake swimming and water skiing in the cold water. We spent many days relaxing on the beach in the warm sun with Helen and Bud, family and friends. He bought an ugly pea green motor home and took his family on many fun vacations from coast to coast.

Jerry spent many winter days in Las Vegas with his family and friends. He enjoyed eating out at numerous buffets, had fun gambling a€" not too much winning, and just getting away from Utah''s cold weather. He gambled with Pearl while Joe and Joanne ate crab legs.

For the last 15 years, we have spent spring and fall months in Pennsylvania enjoying the beautiful scenery, fall colors and antique auctions. They would have 5 to 6 hour auctions nearly every day. He loved the auctions, but after a few hours he would retreat to the snack bar tables, to visit with his new friends and many lady friends eating and laughing while Joanne stayed in the auction room. Besides family, his good friends Pearl and Joe would come to visit, enjoy sightseeing, and learned to like the auctions. Our heartfelt thanks to Dagmar. She has been so helpful in the past six months. Making him made him homemade breakfasts, sitting by his bed and talking with him. She helped him when he was in pain and cared for him constantly. She made his last days comfortable.

We would like to express our special thanks to Legacy Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Jerry. Because of them he was able to remain at home with his family. Thank you so much Marie, you not only gave him the best nursing care, but also tenderness, love, humor, and affection.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden.
