Gerald Ray Short

September 11, 1940 ~ December 18, 2015

Gerald Ray Short, 75, passed away at his home in Roy, Utah.

Gerald was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Lois Eldridge and Elvin Short. He grew up in Brigham City. He also lived in Riverdale, Utah, before moving to Roy, Utah.

He married Nedra Yaunt; they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Together they raised three amazing daughters, Danette (Daniel) Maisey, Garee (Kevin) Davis, and Tania (Cameron) Swaner. Our Dad loved our mom and those in his family with his whole heart.

He loved supporting his family in all their interests – he especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball, basketball, and football. He loved his grandkids.

He earned a Degree in Business Management and retired from Defense Depot Ogden. He also served in the USAF and worked at ACE Hardware.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Nedra Yaunt Short; daughters, Danette (Daniel) Maisey, Garee (Kevin) Davis, and Tania (Cameron) Swaner; grandchildren, Jessica (Ben), Kiersten, Braxton (Jordyn), Trista, Haylee (Tyler), Quade, Taydan, Tyeson, Colbey, and Treytan; great-grandchildren, Rocklynn, and Rusten; brothers, Ron (Shelly) Baty and Bob Short; and a sister, Carol Jenkins.

Gerald was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Bailey; father, Elvin Short; sister, Darlene Nelson; brother-in-law, Clyde Nelson; and sister-in-law, Linda Short.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

In honor of Dad’s passion for the Chicago Bears and NASCAR, wearing the Bears or NASCAR attire is preferable; however your presence is most important.
