It is with deep sorrow and sadness to announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother and friend Gerald (Jerry) Spatz. He died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 29,2024. Jerry was a resident of Clearfield, UT since 1989. Born into a large, vibrant family in Cleveland, OH. Jerry's laughter and love knew no bounds, spreading warmth and joy to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart Carol Singer in 1979, and they soon welcomed their two sons: Jacob Spatz and Daniel Spatz.
His life was a testament to service, from the depths of the ocean as an Underwater Welder in the U.S. Navy to the heart of his community as a dedicated Firefighter and Assistant Chief at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 2015.
In 2002, Jerry married Tonia Thomas. In that marriage, Jerry gained two children who he loved and welcomed as his own, Lance and Krista.
Jerry's legacy is carried on through his loving family, his children Jacob Spatz (Megan), Daniel Spatz (Amanda), Lance Leon (Jessica), Krista Tidwell (Justin), and his 9 amazing grandchildren, who will continue to walk in the footsteps of his kindness and unwavering spirit. His life was rich with adventure, from the roar of his Harley to the peacefulness of his cabin, each moment was lived with an unbridled zest that became his signature. Jerry also loved cooking for his family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Jerry, we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey marked by dedication, loyalty, and genuine care for others. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched. Jerry Spatz was more than a name; he was a beacon of happiness, a source of comfort, and a symbol of love that will shine on eternally.
Jerry is survived by his siblings Alan Spatz (Penni), Douglas Spatz (Julie), Beverly Moore, Ken Spatz, Alberta Shaffer (Lou), Dale Spatz, David Spatz (Lynn), and Roy Spatz (Bea).
