GERALD VICTOR STRONG

Gerald Victor Strong, 59, returned to his Father in Heaven on Saturday, November 4, 2017 after a hard-fought battle with illness over the course of several years.

He was born in Ogden, Utah to John Thornton and Elsie Mae Sturkie Strong and lived his life in and around the Wasatch Front, graduating from Ogden High School.

Professionally, Gerald worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and warehouse manager for Great Salt Lake Mineral.

He was sealed to his sweetheart Kathleen Nelson in the Logan Utah LDS Temple and was rarely seen without her by his side.

Gerald’s passions included music, reading, and motorcycles with a particular love for nature and the outdoors. For as long as his health permitted he spent nearly every summer with his family, the Boy Scouts, and the youth of the church hiking, fishing, and boating in the Uinta mountains. Those who knew him will always remember his campfire stories, his sense of humor, and his larger than life personality.

Gerald is survived by his wife Kathleen Strong, Hooper; his son Nelson (Tanya) Strong and their three boys, Hooper; his son Jason (Kayla) Strong, Roy; his three brothers: John (Cathy) Strong, Sugarland, TX; Larry (Sandra) Strong, Roy; and Robert (LaRue) Strong, Riverdale; his two sisters: Mary Farr, Hooper; and Laura (Dennis) Connolly, Green Valley, AZ. He will be warmly greeted by many deceased family members on the other side of the veil.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11am at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. Friends may visit with the family at the mortuary Tuesday, November 14th from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment, Hooper Cemetery, 5340 S. 6300 W.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through America First Credit Union to account #9098229 in Gerald’s name.
