Gerald Victor West

Gerald Victor West, 57, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 in a vehicle accident in Wyoming. He was born on February 22, 1955 to Warren Burd West II MD, FACR and Clare Olive Dover West in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in Ogden and attended Ogden City Schools.

He married Linda S. Katz on August 28, 1993. They later divorced and remained close friends.

Gerald loved nature, riding his motorcycle, boating at Lake Powell, 4-wheeling in Southern Utah and snowmobiling in Yellowstone.

He loved his home and worked endless hours in his 1 A½ acre yard. He created a park-like area where a river flowed, keeping nature untouched and beautiful. Gerald was an excellent gardener with roses being a favorite. He lovingly tended dozens of bushes and cut the best to take to his mother weekly. He enjoyed building scale model boats.

Gerald worked at the IRS for 27 years, with several years as a NTEU Representative, and the later years in management. He built the reputation of giving 110% of himself, shoveling sidewalks for employee''s safety and fixing broken equipment. He loved parties and held many for his employees and friends at his home. He will be greatly missed for he was a unique manager at the IRS.

Gerald is survived by his mother, Olive Dover West, brothers, Warren B. "Pat" (Barbara) West, Nashville, TN and Richard D. (Nedy) West, Austin, TX; sister, Sandra Thompson, Ogden, UT; sister-in-law, Margaret West, Ontario, Canada and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, George S. and C. Roger West.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Ogden City Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
