Gerald “Gerry” David Richardson

Gerald “Gerry” David Richardson, 75, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2016.  He was born on September 22, 1940 to Leland Ezra and Rae Hadley Richardson in Ogden, Utah.  He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School, where he received a scholarship to play baseball at Arizona State University.  He was soon drafted to play professional baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers.  However, he chose to pursue his education and begin his family.  He graduated from Weber State University with a BS degree in Business.

On July 8, 1960 he married high school sweetheart, Rebecca Hone in Ogden, Utah.  In November 1989 their marriage was sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Gerald was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully as Sunday School President, Home Teacher, and in the High Priest Group Leadership.

He began his professional career at Swift and Company, and then began a prosperous career with Conoco Incorporated where he excelled at many levels.  His professional accomplishments provided the opportunity for his family to benefit from a vast number of experiences including living in London, England.  He later returned home to be the President and Owner of Hone Oil Company, a family business.

While President of Hone Oil Company he served as President of Utah Petroleum Marketers Association and Western Petroleum Marketers Association.  He also served as a Utah Director of Petroleum Marketers of America and as a member of the board of directors of the WMI Mutual Insurance Company until his passing.  He also served as President of Ogden Golf and Country Club.

Throughout his life his family always came first.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He loved playing baseball, golf, and fishing the Green River. Gerry was the happiest when he was watching or participating in activities with his grandchildren.  He was a man of integrity and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Rebecca, Ogden; sons, Mark Lee (Carrie), Grand Junction, CO; John David (Jennifer), Ogden; and Andrew Clair (Julie), Gilbert, AZ; ten grandchildren; and his sister, Linda Richardson, Apache Junction, AZ.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stephen Richardson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
