Geraldine Toombs Farrell passed away at home on the 14th of October, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born the 18th of November 1928 in Brigham City, Utah to Clifford Everett Toombs and Ellen Myrtle Andersen Toombs. She grew up in Willard where she attended Willard Elementary.

She spent summers with her Uncle Abe and Aunt Edris Glasmann at their Lodge in Island Park, Idaho. During one of her visits, she had the honor of dining with the World Heavyweight Champion Jack Dempsey, at his request.

Later, her family moved to South Willard. She attended Box Elder High School and graduated in the spring of 1947. She was very active in music circles throughout her school years. She sang in the Operettas in grade school and was a soprano soloist for the Glee Club in high school years. She was a soloist on the traveling assemblies performing at the other high schools in the top of Utah, She also played the trumpet in the band. In the fall of 1946 and the spring of 1947, she was selected with a few other students to represent Box Elder to perform at the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, at the Western Region Music Conference and the Celebration of 100 years of the pioneers coming to Utah. This was a real thrill for her. Upon graduation, she was awarded a scholarship to Weber State, where she performed under Roland Perry.

That summer she worked at the theater as a cashier and through a friend, met the love of her life, Charles C. Farrell, on the 4th of July 1947. They were married on the following 18 December 1947. On the 18th of December 1961, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They resided in South Willard for 13 years where they were blessed with six children, one son, passing away at birth, and five girls which they raised. Then moved to Clinton were they lived until her passing.

She sang for 26 years with a trio, the Phelomels, which she conducted.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she had many music positions. She loved the Church with all her heart and was faithfully devoted.

Gerry was employed by J.C. Penney Co. in the office, then assistant credit office associate. She retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1993. She also owned and operated Charlie’s Ceramics for 39 years along with her other employment. She loved working.

After retiring she and Chuck loved to travel and did a great deal – Europe, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, as well as seeing many of the states, especially Florida, where they also conducted business. Kawaii was their favorite place. They loved it so much that they had a condo in Princeville.

She is survived by four daughters, Pamala Ann Day (Dennis, deceased), Patty Jo Farrell, Penny Jean Rundberg (Daryl), and Angela Lee Smith (Brian), and a son-in-law, David Lee Arnold. She has 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, an infant son, her oldest daughter, Peggie Lynn Arnold, her parents, and six siblings, Jay E. Toombs, Barbara Toombs, Jack E. Toombs, Zola A. Stoker, Blanch Bott, Daris Hooper, and also her three brothers-in-law, a grandson, Steven R. Day, a granddaughter, Christie Lin Nelson, and both sets of grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Clinton 25th Ward Chapel, 2841 West 1300 North. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday, October 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
