Geraldine “Gerrie” Bell Gibson
April 23, 1931 ~ August 14, 2022
Gerrie Gibson passed away surrounded by her family on August 14, 2022. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, parents, brother, and many friends. The reunion was a sweet one for sure!
She was born to Neldon J. and Charlotte Adamson Bell on April 23, 1931, in Richmond, Utah. She was delivered by her grandmother on the family farm. Gerrie and her two brothers, Boyd (Marilyn) Bell and Stan (Renata) Bell, grew up in the Grand Island, Nebraska area. Gerrie was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Platte River in October of 1939. They moved to Ogden area where she graduated from Weber High School in 1949.
Gerrie met Howard Ralph Gibson and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 9, 1953. Together they made their home in Harrisville, Utah and raised their five children there with many memories, Linda (Tom) Burkland, Diane Comella, Julie (Alan) Maynard, Colleen (Mark) Sullivan, and Scott (Chantelle) Gibson. Gerrie and Howard were regular square dancers, campers at Camp Beaver, boaters, and travelers. They could always be found hauling horses to the rodeos for their girls and at sporting events for their son. She worked the whole time they were raising kids at the Navy Base and Defense Depot Ogden (DDO), where she later retired.
After retirement she volunteered for many years at McKay Dee Hospital. She and Howard worked in the Ogden Temple where they met many dear friends. She had fond memories of traveling with her temple friends. Gerrie loved doing her daily crossword puzzle, reading, and watching the daily news. She loved to go out with friends and was always up for a vacation.
Howard and Gerrie have 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her grandkids will always cherish the way she made each of them feel so loved and made it a point to attend as many sporting events, piano recitals, and school activities as possible. They also have many funny vacation stories to tell about their grandma.
The family would like to thank The Lodge and Symbii Homecare and Hospice.
