Geraldine Petersen Wurth

On Saturday, June 11, 2016, the world lost a magnificent woman. She was tough as nails, compassionate and more generous than anyone you will ever meet. We lost a loving mother, aunt, grandma, sister and dear friend. We gained all her knowledge talents and wonderful memories.

Geraldine Petersen Wurth, 75, left this world free of pain and suffering. She was born May 29, 1941 in Logan, Utah to Ogi Arvid Jensen Petersen and Lillian Delila Izatt. She graduated from Davis High School in 1959. At age 15, mom and her oldest sister lied about their age and went to work at Yellowstone.

On July 24, 1964, Geri and little Valerie Jo married John William Wurth in Elko, Nevada; as Valerie was two years old and would say “we are going to get married to Daddy”. They went on to have three more children, raising their little family in Roy, Utah.

She was gainfully employed with the U.S. Treasury, retiring after 25 years of service.

Geri was a member of the LDS Church.

She loved to create beautiful oil paintings and talented at everything she tried. She loved to crochet and make beautiful porcelain dolls. She loved jewelry and made many necklaces and earrings,

Geri is survived by her children, John Paul (Cherrae) Wurth, Layton; Wayne Charles Wurth, Farr West; Valerie Jo (Brent) Roberts, West Point; Wendie Susanne Wurth Glass (Jeff Curtis), Layton; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Harold (Zenith) Petersen, Littleton, CO; Christian Alexander (Hilkka) Petersen Layton; Kevin Lewis Petersen, Clearfield; three sisters, ArvaLue (Curt) Curtis, Las Vegas, NV; Maren Irene Petersen, Clearfield; and Deborah (Jim) Moody, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Paul and Marjorie Wurth, Beloved husband, John Wurth, two brothers, Lynn A. Petersen, Randy Petersen, and sister-in-law, Joanne Kano Petersen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
