Geri Bowcutt Mecham

July 14, 1949 — February 6, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Geri, who brought light, laughter, and warmth to everyone who knew her. Geri passed away on the morning of February 6, 2025, at McKay Dee Hospital, she was 75 years old.

Geri was born on July 14, 1949, in Ogden, UT to George and Fay Bowcutt. From a young age, Geri had an infectious energy. Always active and full of life, she could often be found outside, playing, exploring, riding bikes, playing in the river, riding horses, and went on many picnics in Ogden Canyon with her mother and siblings. In every photo from her youth, she wore her characteristic big smile that she carried until her last day on Earth.

She graduated from Ogden High School, Class of ‘67. She later married Kerry Lindgren, and together they raised three children, Krisha, Whitney, and Kavin. They spent family time in the outdoors making countless memories skiing, hiking, camping, exploring nature, and spending Sundays at the park. Geri always had a special place in her heart for Lake Powell and Jackson Hole as they spent many summer vacations there. Geri was the ultimate nurturer. She created a home filled with love, compassion, and dance parties in the kitchen.

After 22 years of marriage, Kerry and Geri parted ways. She later was married to Roy Mecham from 1997 to 2019. Their years together included traveling to places she had always wanted to visit. In their homes, they provided a gathering place for both of their families.

Geri's employment included long-tenured positions at the Internal Revenue Service and Weber State University. Geri volunteered much of her time as a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for children of abuse. She also donated her time at the YCC Family Crisis Center and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Geri found value in her work and made lifelong friendships in these endeavors.

While raising her three kids, Geri had an open-door policy where everyone knew they were welcome. She became a second mom to many. Geri loved seeing her kids have a good time and often contributed to their crazy antics. The most common thing said about Geri by those who knew her was how deeply she made them feel loved. She had a beautiful gift of making everyone she met feel special. Her genuine interest in the lives of others and her ability to connect with people left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her warmth, Geri was known for her sense of humor, quick wit, contagious laugh, and her ability to bring levity to any situation. She loved music (Van Morrison and Rod Stewart accompanied her wherever she went) and had a keen sense of style in design and fashion.

Above all, Geri’s greatest joy was her family. She could entertain her grandchildren for hours with funny stories or putting 10 pairs of reading glasses on her head. We’ll be finding pairs of Geri’s reading glasses for the next decade. They loved their Maga so much!

Though she faced health challenges throughout her life, Geri would always give you a smile and laughter. Her fun-loving spirit, quick wit, and boundless kindness made her a joy to be around. The last years of her life were spent with her closest friends and family filling the room with laughter. She left an unforgettable mark on those lucky enough to share time with her.

Geri is survived by her children, Krisha (Anthony) Froerer, Whitney (Jake) Pantone, and Kavin (Alex) Lindgren; her grandchildren, Sage, Rossi, Larsen, Olive, Ruger, Lennon, Anders, Norah, Jorn, Maeve and Benee; and her siblings, Galen (Linda) Bowcutt, and Lola (Mel) Bernhisel. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jacob Moses Pantone; mother, Fay Standing; and father, George Bowcutt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. with a time of sharing from 7 to 8 p.m. at The 5th Floor, Ogden. This will be a time of connection, laughter, love, and dancing in remembrance of the incredible woman she was.

We will always love and miss you Geri until we see you again.
