Gerri Peterson

Gerrie “Boo” Peterson was born February 23, 1941 in Festus, Missouri. She was the third child born to Wallace and Irma Hayes. She graduated from South Eastern Missouri State and moved to California to teach kindergarten. This is where she met her husband, Paul Peterson, whom she married on April 23, 1966. They had two children, Curt and Samantha. The family moved to Utah in 1978 where Paul and Gerrie opened and operated a lighting store, Layton Lamps and Lights, in Layton. In 1979, Gerrie became a kindergarten teacher at West Weber Elementary. She loved her students, the faculty and the community. She retired two years ago and enjoyed traveling and going to Wendover with her good friend, Venice Penman. Gerrie was proud to have Trent Bills join the family in 1991 when he married her daughter, Samantha. She found a kindred soul in Trent with the exchange of their rude cards at birthdays and the teasing they gave each other over the years. Gerrie welcomed her first grandchild and best friend, Hunter Bills, to the family in 1997 and this is who christened her with the nick name, Boo. She was very excited when Dausen Bills, her little reading buddy, joined us in 2001 and last but not least, her beautiful granddaughter, Darbey Bills in 2003, they loved to polish their nails together. Boo loved sitting in her yard and watching the grand kids play. She enjoyed taking them to McDonald’s and spoiling them every chance she got. She loved to go to garage sales and Red Lobster with her sister, Lesnie Foster. Mom was very proud of all of Curt, Samantha, Trent, Hunter, Dausen and Darbey’s accomplishments and took the opportunity to share them with anyone that would listen. She was very involved and went to all activities that she could. Gerrie “Boo” Peterson, 66, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, a brother, Donald Hayes, and her in-laws. Gerrie is survived by her family, Curt Peterson, North Ogden; Trent and Samatha Bills, Roy; three grand babies, Hunter, Dausen and Darbey; and her brother, Gene (Delores) Hayes, Missouri. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Vincent Hansen, Dr. Deanna Bojanower and their wonderful staff.
