In loving memory and appreciation for mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Tutu, Girtrude Maud Bronson Etherington (Trudy), 97, February 18, 1921 to March 31, 2018 of Layton, Utah. Daughter of Lewis Bronson and Jennie Bowcutt. Trudy spent her growing up years in Tremonton, Utah where she met and married James W. Etherington on April 6, 1940. During their lifetime together, they lived in Ogden, Utah, Layton, Utah and Guam. Later they were sealed in the Ogden Temple on February 2, 1999.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary as teacher and President and on the Layton Stake Primary Board and chorister for many years and loved singing in the ward choir.
Trudy participated with close friends playing Pinochle and we have many fond memories of the ladies in our home.
Trudy and Jim enjoyed traveling with the square dance club. She also learned how to Hula dance while in Guam and taught many others. She had a passion for painting and writing later in her life and surprised us all with her hidden talents. Trudy was very frugal and we all remember going to school in clothing she sewed for us, she was an excellent seamstress.
Trudy was known for telling you what she thought and sometimes you did not like what she said, but we all knew it was what we needed to hear.
As mother, grandmother and great-grandmother we thank you for all the many hours spent cooking, cleaning, teaching and nurturing all of us. We have many fond memories that will stay with us forever.
Trudy is survived by her daughters, Julie King, Salt Lake; Sharon Jenkins, Malad, ID; Wendy Bybee, Salt Lake; Tracy Nelson, Ogden; and son, Lane Etherington, San Diego, CA; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Etherington and son Lewis James Etherington.
