Glen E Carter

Glen E. Carter passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Ogden Regional Hospital of Pneumonia at the age of 85. He was born on September 14, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Thomas and Fredericka Fiet Carter. He married Lois Marie Stegen on February 18, 1949 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on November 2, 1950.

During World War II he dropped out of high school and joined the Merchant Marines and after 7 months joined the US Navy. During the Korean Conflict he was activated and served again in the US Navy. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base and retired in 1976 after 31 years of service. He was well known for working at Bernal''s Barber Shop in Washington Terrace for many years.

Glen has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life and held many positions of responsibility. Most remembered was his 25 years of service as temple worker in the Ogden LDS Temple. He was grateful for the many friendships and associations made there. He has been active in family genealogical work and his last calling which he cherished was at the Ogden Genealogical Library.

Glen is survived by his children, John (Rachel), Alan, Connie Neylan (David) and David (Julie); 12 grandchildren and 23 grandchildren; and his siblings Robert Carter of South Ogden, and June Petersen of Palm Springs, California.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10: 30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
