Glen Elder

KAYSVILLE a€" Glen Elder passed peacefully on August 15, 2012 due to causes incident to age.

Glen was born October 16, 1928 in Roosevelt, Utah to Leo and Dorothy Goodno Elder. He was raised in Roosevelt, Myton, Orem and Salt Lake. He served as a LDS missionary in the Southern States mission. He then served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

He married the love of his life Carol Hill Elder on December 4, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children and raised them in Kaysville, Utah. He derived his greatest pleasures from raising his family. To his children he was more than a Father, he was their friend. To his grandchildren he was their playmate and pal.

He was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many callings including Elders Quorum President and Ward Clerk. He also served as a temple worker in the Bountiful Temple.

Dad enjoyed family, camping, friends, fishing, especially his Shoshone trips and traveling with the three "B''s" Barbara, Bill and Bernice.

He worked as a service technician for Questar Gas. After retiring he would often joke as to whether he could fit activities into his "Busy" schedule.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit which will surely be missed especially his "Dad jokes". Our birthdays will never be the same in the absence of his phone call which included "Happy Birthday" played on the harmonica.

He is survived by his children, Ken (Mary), Pocatello, ID, Scott (Pam), Kaysville, Linda (Dave) Maybury, Syracuse, Kirk (Gina), Layton and Greg (Michelle), Syracuse; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, parents and brothers, Melvin and Denton and special friend Bernice Horne.

Although it leaves us with a hole which cannot be filled, we are overjoyed at the thought of the glorious reunion taking place with our loved ones gone before. We will miss you, we love you and look forward to our own happy reunion with you.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 9th Ward, 600 E. 200 So. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
