Glen Kenley
May 5, 1928 ~ January 17, 2016
Lifelong Ogden resident, Glen Kenley completed his earthly life on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the age of 87. He leaves behind his sweetheart and wife of over 70 years Yvonne Fowler Kenley. They were married on September 18, 1945 in Clearfield. Together, they lived 61 years in Washington Terrace raising six beautiful daughters, Marilyn Merrill (deceased), Carolyn Schreck (deceased), Linda (Russ) Berrett of Pleasant View, Elaine (Frank) Nielsen of North Ogden, Julie (Steve) Baird of Henderson, Nevada, and Joyce Kenley of Ogden. Their ever-growing posterity consists of 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren (three more on the way) and two great-great grandchildren. Glen worked hard to instill good values in his family. His love for Yvonne was evident in their playful banter, shared interests, and in his concern for her comfort, particularly in later years as health challenges increased. Glen leaves a legacy of hard work, family values and determination.
Born on May 5, 1928, Glen was the oldest child of Gordon and Ruby Mae (East) Kenley. His brother, Wayne (Marsha) Kenley preceded him in death; sister, Shirley (Richard) Lemmons resides in West Point. He lived his entire life in Ogden attending local schools and finding fulfillment in his career as a Technical Order Writer, retiring from Hill Air Force Base after 30 years of service. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, Washington Terrace 8th ward.
An accomplished mechanic, Glen spent countless hours in his immaculate garage workshop. His expertise in repairing automobiles, trucks, and small engines blessed many family members and friends. He had an uncanny ability to find a problem, fix it, remove any encumbrance or modify it to his exact specifications, creating a product far superior to the original. His mechanical intuition was innate and unmatched.
Glen loved to be outside. His lawn was always beautiful and he took great pride in caring for it well into his 80’s. When he wasn’t coaching the Jazz from his living room, Glen was an avid fisherman, hunter, ATV enthusiast, and enjoyed camping. Family members will carry those wonderful memories with them forever. Although we rejoice in his reunion with his daughters, parents, and brother, he will be dearly missed here on earth and his family will be eternally grateful for his sacrifices and hard work on our behalf.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family thanks the staff of Brookdale Senior Living, Envision Home Health Care, and Applegate Hospice for all of their tender care.
