Glen E. Morby of North Ogden, Utah passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 of heart failure. He was 84 years old. He was born on April 15, 1934 to Clarence Saxton and Esther Parkinson Morby of Ogden. He was the youngest of six children. He attended Ogden High School where he was an officer in the ROTC and had a passion for his drama class. It was in his history class where he met the love of his life, Shirley Rae Jorgensen. They were married on April 24, 1953 in the Logan Temple. They lived their life together in North Ogden and raised eight children. Shirley suffered with ill health for many years and passed away on July 14, 2008. Glen was very dedicated to his beautiful wife.

Glen retired from the Utah Power & Light Company after 35 years of service, retiring as manager.  He was also the past President of Ogden UP&L Credit Union, where he served for many years.

Glen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions, including missionary, bishopric counselor, emergency preparedness specialist, stake historian, and in high priest group leadership. He loved his home teaching families and his ward members.

He was a Scoutmaster for many years and took his scouts on many trips, including the Grand Canyon, Camp Loll, the Wind Rivers, and the High Uintas. He had a gift for telling campfire stories. Many youth groups had the opportunity to hear his tales.

Glen loved the theatre and plays. He acted in several productions. He wrote short stories and books in his spare time. He loved playing the organ. He enjoyed watching BYU sports and Utah Jazz games. Glen loved attending his grandchildren’s entertainment and sporting events.

Glen leaves behind a wonderful family. He is proud of his 39 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. His eight children are Michael Morby, Ogden; Kathryn Morby Fortie, Ogden; Douglas and Carola Morby, Gilbert, Arizona; David and Valerie Morby, Liberty; Drew and Lisa Morby, North Ogden; Kristen Mouritsen, Mesa, Arizona; Glen and Monica Morby, Taylor; and Caroline and Curtis Hoskins, Meridian, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, John Andrew Morby; one son-in-law, Michael Fortie; grandsons, Corbin Morby, Michael Fortie, Jr., and Matthew Fortie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Ben Lomond 12th Ward, 3610 North 650 East, North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
