Glen Thomas Schofield, 87, after a long and happy life, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, April 15, 2012 surrounded by his family.
He was born May 19, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Burton and Eudora Page Schofield. On November 28, 1944, Tom married Belva Ann Talbot of West Layton, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 14, 1951.
Tom attended Syracuse Elementary and graduated from Davis High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific during WWII from 1943 - 1945. He was a devout patriot and loved his country. He retired in 1980 as a machinist from HAFB with 39 years of service. Tom was a member of the Clearfield Fire Department and served as a member of the Utah State Fireman Association for over 50 years.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an LDS mission alongside his sweetheart in the Extraction Program at the Ogden Tabernacle. He served in many other church positions throughout his life.
Tom''s greatest love in life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with all of them, making them each feel special and loved. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, and watching grandkids play sports. Tom loved all sports and excelled in baseball where he played semi-pro. His love of baseball was passed onto his posterity.
He is survived by his wife, Belva, and their six children and their spouses; Danny (Judy) Schofield, Ogden; Rocky (Jana) Schofield, Syracuse; Tammy (Mike) Moss, Clinton; Teresa (Jeff) Toone, Marriott-Slaterville; Sarah Fleming, Pine Valley, UT; Dodie (Jim) Smedley, Surprise, AZ; 32 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Dad and Mom would say their greatest accomplishment of their lives was the raising of their six children. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Edean Schofield and Marie Talbot.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dale Schofield, Lamar Schofield, Sherman Schofield and Norma Hulse.
We love you dad and we will miss you until we meet again!
The family would like to thank Hospice and all others for their compassionate service they rendered in dad''s behalf.
