Glen Daniel Spencer
SYRACUSE a" Glen Daniel Spencer, 89, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011, of natural causes at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield.
He was born July 31, 1921, to Henry Wilson Spencer and Myrtle Emma Thompson in Blackfoot, Idaho. He married Donna Mae Daley August 29, 1941, in Weston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this couple were born four children: Larry, Elden, "Mick," Sheila, and Sharlene.
He served in the Army and was a World War II veteran. He was always a hard worker and was a plumber for over 40 years.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He especially enjoyed his time serving with the Young Men. He liked to serve others and often used his skills to help people. He was friendly and enjoyed visiting with people and telling stories. He loved hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. His homegrown tomatoes were well known and shared with everyone in the neighborhood. He loved and appreciated his family. He enjoyed good health and strength throughout his life and was grateful for it. He was able to take care of Donna for several years prior to her passing on August 9, 1996.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter: Larry (Joanne) Spencer, Elden "Mick" (Nancy) Spencer, all of Syracuse; Sharlene (David) Lomax, Mesa, AZ; 14 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister LaRee (Mike) Nowland, Blackfoot, ID. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, a daughter Sheila and her husband George Wardell, a great-grandson, seven brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Syracuse 2nd Ward Chapel, 2228 S. 1660 W., Syracuse. The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday, June 3, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
