Glen W. Stuart
LAYTON - Glen W. Stuart, 88, passed away Friday, August 31, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. His body wore out but his spirit remained strong to the end. He always had a joke or a story for anyone who’d listen.
Glen was the youngest of 11 children born February 15, 1919 to James R. Stuart and Minnie Amelia Cox. He grew up in Woodruff, UT, graduating from South Rich High School.
After serving an LDS mission in Texas-Louisiana, he joined the Army during World War II. He married Thelma Georgia Kendell in the Salt Lake Temple December 26, 1944 and they raised their four children in Ogden and Layton, UT.
Their children are Wilma (Gary) Adams, Bountiful, UT,; Glen (Joan) Stuart, Snowflake, AZ; Erna Stuart, Layton, UT; and Edward (Kathy) Stuart, Ogden, UT.
Glen was an active member of the LDS Church. He was a member and former commander of the DAV and retired from Hill air Force Base where he was a mechanic.
He was a master leather craftsman, and enjoyed making lapidary jewelry and belt buckles.
For over 40 years he spent the holidays playing Santa Claus where he often shared his talents for tap dancing and harmonica playing.
He was a caring husband, a loving dad, a good neighbor, and a kind “Samaritan” always willing to lend a hand to a stranger.
He is survived by his children, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother, Louis Stuart (Woodruff, UT). We’re sure he is having a joyous reunion with his wife, parents and nine siblings who preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Layton West Stake Center, 1715 West 1600 N. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road, and Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Uintah City Cemetery.
