Glen Shaw Underwood
SYRACUSE a" Glen Shaw Underwood, 72, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011.
He was born October 29, 1938 in Pocatello, Idaho the son of James Thomas and Constance Mary Shaw Underwood.
Glen graduated from Ogden High School in 1956 and from Weber State College, in 1958 and later from the University of Utah in 1963 with a degree in accounting.
Glen married the love of his life Lorraine Mickelson on December 22, 1961 in Logan Temple.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Northern Far East Mission and Branch President and served in many bishoprics.
Glen worked as the Chief Financial Officer at Utility Trailer Sales. He and his wife purchased a RE/MAX franchise and he was the broker for 40 agents retiring after 17 years. After retirement Glen and his wife became personal real estate coaches.
Glen enjoyed square dancing serving several positions with the Utah State Square Dancers Association, ultimately elected president of the association. Glen and his wife were appointed honorary ambassadors to Russia from the State of Utah, with a proclamation signed by Governor Mike Leavitt, putting together a performing group. They performed in St. Petersburg for thousands in attendance in Novgarod and Moscow. Glen and Lorraine enjoyed traveling extensively traveling in most continents and cruises. Their last cruise was through the Panama Canal. He had a great love for his family and loved spending time with them.
Surviving are his wife Lorraine of 49 years, five children: Cherie Lyn (Bart) Nef, Wellsville; Lori Ann, Twin Falls, ID; Richard Glen, Steven James, Curtis John all of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren, two sisters, Marian (Dr. Arthur) Budge and Joyce (Dr. James) Morehead.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
