Glenda Sue Rucker Parks left us to join the love of her life, Alan Parks, on October 28, 2024. Born on February 17, 1942, in Tremonton, UT, she was the daughter of William Henry and Clara Marie Egbert Rucker.
Glenda married Michael Mangel in 1960, welcoming five children during their marriage before eventually divorcing. She rekindled a friendship with Alan Parks and four years later in 1986 they married as best friends, blending their families and gaining four more children. In 1996 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Throughout her younger years, Glenda lived in San Diego, California, and Pearl City, Hawaii, before returning to Utah. She was passionate about crafting, hosting gatherings, and meeting new people. A fervent advocate for women's rights, Glenda made her voice heard in political matters and encouraged her daughters and granddaughters to continue that legacy, even famously burning a few bras along the way.
An entrepreneur at heart, Glenda started one of the first dating services in Utah, called Date and Relate, which brought her great pride as she helped others find love. Alongside Alan, she ventured into real estate, purchasing and renovating properties to rent or sell.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glenda served in various callings throughout her life, finding joy in her role as a visiting teacher and building connections with others.
She loved traveling with Alan, spending time with her large family, sharing stories of her life, and discussing politics with anyone who would listen (even those that didn’t).
Glenda is survived by her children, Tracy Mangel, Korey (Steve) Wardleigh, Jay D. Mangel, Kevin C. (Amber) Mangel, Joe (Gina) Daniel, Troy (Marilynne) Parks, Stephanie Parks, Christopher (Laurie Read) Parks, and Courtnee Parks (Brett Clyde). She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Henry Devon (Margaret) Rucker and Michael (Beverly) Rucker, 4 sisters, Gaylene Lacefield, Suzanne Burns, Barbara (Max) Gregory, and Becky (Rick) Winkler; as well as her lifelong friend, Jodie Salaz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Parks; her daughter, Christy S. Daniel; her grandsons, Joseph R. Daniel and Jordan Mangel; her parents; and her brother, Lavarr Rindlisbacher.
We would love to give a special thanks to A Plus Healthcare at Home, Jessica Warren, Celina Daniel, and Tracy for taking extra special care of her in the last couple of years. Korey and all of her amazing family for taking her into their home and caring for her the last year of her life. Thanks to all of the family for the calls and assistance you provided during that time.
