Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Glenn Herman Beck, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 while surrounded by his family. Glenn was born March 8, 1926 in Santaquin, Utah to Raymond and Edna Walker Beck. He married Doris Day in Draper, Utah on June 23, 1948. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple 15 years later and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. As a young man, he served in the Army Air Forces during WWII. After an honorable discharge from the service, he worked as a manager for the JC Penney Company; it was with JC Penney where Glenn found his niche in the apparel business. After 13 years he and a friend left JC Penney to open Bee Gee’s Apparel in Roy, Utah. Glenn was actively involved in his community. He served as Secretary of the Children’s Aid Society of Ogden, on the Clinton City Council and the Boy Scout of America’s Century Club, and as President of the Lion’s Club and the Chamber of Commerce of Roy. He and Doris were involved in the Festival of Trees for 33 years. He was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in a wide variety of callings. Glenn and Doris served a full-time mission at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City and a Stake mission in Layton for three years. Glenn was most happy spending time with his family. A generous man who made friends easily, Glenn was impossible not to love. His friends and family adored him and he was always there for them. For 25 years he and Doris spent their winters in St. George playing golf and enjoying their friends and family. Survived by his wife Doris, two daughters and two sons, Lynda Easter, Shauna (Brad) Kerr, Brian Beck and Paul (Rachele) Beck; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Andrea, Jena, Michael, Tanner, Tennyson, Ingram, Eli, Larson and great grandson Duncan. Preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ray, Duane, Walker and sisters Lucille and Alice. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Country Oaks Ward, 2680 E. Cherry Lane, Layton. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Draper City Cemetery. Dad loved the Festival of Trees. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Primary Children’s Medical Center.
