Glenna Baker

Glenna Gene Quigley Baker, beloved Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma passed away on May 22, 2015. She was born on April 6, 1930, in Ogden, Utah, to Joseph Horald and Edith Allred Quigley.

On November 26, 1947, Glenna married Carl B. Baker in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 67 years, when Carl passed away on December 27, 2014. They had a long and lasting love.

Glenna was many things to many people:

• She was a drill sergeant – teaching her children how to clean house and making them do it right or do it again.

• She was Santa Claus - making magical Christmas memories by letting the kids get up at 3 a.m. because even she was so excited she couldn’t sleep.

• She was an explorer - going with her family and friends on vacations to Paris, Puerto Vallarta, San Francisco, Las Vegas (where she loved the dollar slots), and many other exciting places.

• She was a career woman – enjoying a rewarding career spanning over 30 years, 20 as Secretary to the Director of the IRS Ogden Service Center.

• She was a dancer – dancing the night away at her grandchildren’s weddings.

• She was generous – giving “gifts for no reason” to family, friends, and strangers.

• She was a friend – offering support and advice to many.

• She was a wife, sister, mom, grandma, and great grandma – providing unconditional love to all.

• She was "Glenna Q" - the love of her husband's life.

• She IS beautiful – the epitome of charm, class, and grace.

We love you with all our hearts.

Glenna is survived by children Norm (Diane) Baker, Shar (Jim) Alzheimer, Diana (Tom) Karrenberg, Doug (Sandy) Baker, Scott (Carol) Baker, 20 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister Holly Hall. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Vaun, Val, and Joseph Quigley, and sister June Quigley Hall.

A graveside celebration for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse City Cemetery, 1250 South 1000 West. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
