Glenna Mae Thompson Landes

Clearfield- Glenna Mae Thompson Landes, born March 24,1927; passed away November 3,2014; surrounded by her loving family at Ogden Regional Medical Center, of causes incident to age.

Glenna was born in North Evanston, Wyoming to Alvin Clifton Thompson and Dorothy Evelyn Turner. At age one, Glenna moved to Mountain View, Wyoming, where she resided for 14 years. Her family then moved to Salt Lake City and then to Ogden, Utah. She Graduated from Ogden High in 1945 and was married to Lyle James Landes on May 24, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Glenna and Lyle started their family in Ogden, but then moved to Clearfield, where Glenna has lived for the past 58 years. Together Glenna and Lyle had six children.

Glenna started out as a farm girl in Wyoming, but went on to become a nurse’s aide, a telephone operator, and an aircraft electronic instrument mechanic. Glenna served in the PTA and worked as a cook in the school system and also served the LDS church as a counselor and teacher in the primary, served in the relief society, and as a visiting teacher. Glenna took part in many groups and associations including Good Sam, Kiwanis, and literary clubs. Her other hobbies included sewing, ceramics, camping, square dancing, ballroom dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

Glenna is survived by three sons, Scott (Janelle) Landes, Liberty; Curt (Cyndee) Landes, Ogden; Spencer (Bonnie) Landes, Layton; three daughters, Connie Landes, Layton; Vicki (Kent) Somerville, West Haven; and Stephanie (Steve) Adams, Ogden; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and a sister Lola (Darrell) Nichols, Syracuse.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents and two brothers, Duane and Victor Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the mortuary. Interment,  Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for the loving care provided by Chancellor Gardens and the staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center.
