Glenna W. Nicklaus

WASHINGTON TERRACE a€" Our sweet sister and aunt, Glenna W. Nicklaus, 93, completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Glenna was born February 8, 1916 in Morgan, Utah, to Acy and Elizabeth Spendlove Welsh. She was the fifth of eight children and attended school in Morgan.

Glenna married her soul mate, Maurice G. Nicklaus "Uncle Nick", on May 5, 1945 in Ogden. They spent 42 years together before Nick passed away on July 27, 1988.

In her early years she worked as a seamstress. Glenna later worked for Hill Air Force Base, and retired from the Internal Revenue Services. Glenna had a strong and independent spirit and lived on her own for many years. She was generous and kind and always giving to organizations in need, strangers and her family. Glenna and Nick lovingly cared for their only son, Thomas, during a three year illness prior to his death.

She is survived by her brothers, Gerald (Jo) Welsh, Washington Terrace; Donald Welsh, Kaysville; sisters, Arzella Neville, Ogden; Beth Terry, South Ogden; a very special sister-in-law, Betty Nicklaus, Kearns; and many nieces and nephews who love her very much.
