Gloria Lou Bingham (Covey) Johnson
Gloria Lou Bingham (Covey) Johnson, our mama, passed away in her home peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday March 6, 2022 at the age of 86. We can only imagine how wonderful the reunion with her sweetheart must have been with our dad who passed away 4 years ago, along with her generations of family and friends. Oh, what joy and love as they embraced her as they all met again.
Everyone who knew her would say how sweet and loving she was and how she would make them feel so important. They knew they were loved because of Mom.
Mom was born on March 31, 1935 to Violet Schurz and Robert Bingham in Ogden, Utah but was raised by her grandparents Momma and Daddy Covey.
Mom was a great seamstress. Her talent graced generations of whom she gave a piece of her heart with every stitch with one of her projects she shared with those she loved. And of course, her happy socks which she enjoyed giving a pair to every member of her family every Christmas.
She served in many callings selflessly and cherished her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a year mission with her sweetheart in Raleigh, North Carolina where they shared their love and service with so many and made endless memories with those they served.
Gloria married Richard A Johnson on September 11, 1953 in Ogden, Utah and they were later sealed on February 11, 1982 in the Ogden Temple. Mom is survived by her three children Debbie (Gilbert) Leonard, Steve (Ginger) Johnson, Julie (Kelvin) Swander, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren, brother Roy (Arlene) Holden, sister Sharon Watts, sister-in-law Linda Johnson, and many aunts and cousins that were like sisters to her.
Family that was there to meet her on the other side must have included her loving husband Dick Johnson, Parents Violet (Ken) Schurz, grandparents Leroy and Louie Covey, grandson Joey Leonard, Doug Watts, Cliff Johnson, Don (Barbara) Johnson, and Dolores (Merle Riding) Lavern (Don) Williams.
