Gloria L. Nilo
Gloria L. Nilo, 49, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at the University of Utah Medical Center from a very brave and courageous battle with kidney cancer. Born April 5, 1960 in Paracale, Camarines Norte Philippines, she was the daughter of Pedro Labrador and Salvacion Barcelon Labrador.
In 1983, she moved to Warner Robins, Georgia where she met Herald (Gerry) Nilo. They fell in love and were married May 3, 1986 in Reno Nevada. They had two sons, Herald Nilo Jr. and SeaN Nilo and raised them in Layton, Utah.
Family and friends were exceptionally important to Gloria and she was completely devoted to the ones she loved and cared about and absolutely loved spending time with them. She was a vivacious and outgoing person and such a joy to be around. She was very influential and made everyone she knew feel welcome and invited. She just loved to be happy and laugh. Gloria was an outstanding cook and brought people together with her delicious food. She was consistently an incredibly strong person. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton.
She is survived by her husband Herald Nilo, sons Walter Meyers, Ronald Meyers, Herald Nilo Jr., Sean Nilo, six grandchildren, sisters Imelda Gandol, Hilda Labrador, Nydia Spencer, brothers, Hanley Labrador, and Jun Labrador in the Philippines.
Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and the entire medical staff at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital for doing everything they could to prolong her life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street, Layton, Utah. Friends and family may gather Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
