Gordon Lee Hatch
KAYSVILLE – Gordon Lee Hatch, age 82, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
He was born in Ogden, Utah on April 11, 1933 to Theron and Lucille Corless Hatch.
He grew up and attended schools in Randolph, Utah. After graduating from South Rich High School he attended college at Utah State for two years. He then was called as an LDS missionary to the East German Mission. Upon completion of his mission he returned to Utah State, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering.
He married Wanda Grace Merrill just prior to graduation.
He then served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for three years part of which was spent at the University of Utah where he earned a degree in meteorology.
He was subsequently employed by the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington as a space systems engineer. His family was transferred by Boeing to Hill AFB in 1965 to work on the Minuteman Missile System. He then earned a masters degree in engineering management and worked with the Air Force on the Minuteman System until his retirement in 1995.
He and his family have resided in Kaysville since returning to Utah.
It was in Kaysville where they raised four daughters; Annette (Dennis) Briscoe, Shaynie J (Kenneth) Wayman, LeAnne Stenberg, Kara Lyn Eads.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wanda. Wanda passed away in 1982 from Multiple Sclerosis. They have 13 grandchildren.
He married Nedra Palmer Hunt in 1988 and suddenly had a much larger family including her children; Marcus (Martha) Hunt, Helene (Jim) VanNatter, Dale Hunt, David Hunt and 18 more grandchildren. Together they have 43 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood Chapel, 1039 E. Crestwood Road. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations in his name be made to LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
