Gordon Russell Lampright

Gordon Russell Lampright, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Stoney Brooke Assisted Living in Eden, Utah. He was the youngest of five children born on October 30, 1924 in Mankato, Minnesota, the son of Charles Edward and Pearle Peck Lampright. Gordon grew up in Mankato and graduated from high school. At the age of 15 he became the drummer for a well-known dance band called the Jolly Millers and was with them until June of 1943 when he joined the Army Air Corps, 5th Air Force, 38th Bomb Group, 71st Bomb Squadron. He was awarded two Air Metals, flying 49 combat missions as a tail gunner in a B-25 gunship from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to the Lingayen Gulf, Philippines with missions as far north as Okinawa, Japan. SSgt Gordon Lampright was released from active duty in October of 1945.
On July 21, 1945, Gordon married Doris Elizabeth Pederson in Walnut Grove, Minnesota and resided in Mankato. In 1954, Gordon and Doris moved to New Ulm, Minnesota where he was employed as an Electronics Repair Technician and was the developer of a housing subdivision named Indian Point Drive. In 1966 they moved to Boulder, Colorado. They divorced in 1968. Gordon married Mary Lou Street Rhoads on August 9, 1969. Together they built a home on Ridge Road near Nederland, Colorado where they lived until 1983 and then moved to Lafayette, Colorado. Mary Lou passed on January 13, 2014. Gordon suffered a stroke in 2015 and was cared for by his son, Richard and daughter, Jeanne until 2017, when he moved to Eden, Utah where he resided until his passing.
Gordon was a member of the St John's Episcopal Church, Boulder, Colorado.
He enjoyed electronics and owned his own television repair business. He also enjoyed music, square dancing and photography.
Gordon is survived by his son, Richard Lampright of Huntsville, UT; daughters, Caren Mikota of Longmont, CO, and Jeanne Lampright of Salome, AZ; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Lampright of Algona, IA; Charles Lampright of St. Paul, MN; Kermit Setchell of Bonita Springs, FL; and Richard Setchell of Austin, MN. He was preceded in death by both wives, daughter, Linda; his parents and brothers.
Cremation entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 29, 2018 in the Chapel at St John's Episcopal Church, 1419 Pine St, Boulder, Colorado 80302.
