Gordon Alfred Petersen

June 22, 1936 ~ October 19, 2017

Gordon Alfred Petersen passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2017. He was born on June 22, 1936 in Ogden, Utah. Gordon graduated from Ogden High School in 1954 and later served in the Air Force.

Gordon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was an Elder.

Gordon married Darene Cook and they later divorced.

He loved bowling since 1959 and was a member of the Salt Lake City Bowling Association. He was named Bowler of the Year and was also inducted into the Utah Bowler’s Hall of Fame.

Gordon is survived by his two sons, Gordon Petersen, Jr., Ogden and Rick Petersen, Belingham, WA; daughters, Donna Stockman, McRae, Arkansas; Bonnie Petersen, Ogden, and Nina Boulware, Glendale, AZ; brothers, Leonard (Carla) Petersen, Ronald (Linda) Petersen, Alfred (Michelle) Petersen, and his girlfriend of 22 years, Rosa Gonzalez.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Lee Freedle; parents; brothers, Bill and Danny Petersen; and his dog, Cocoa.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and caregivers that took care of Gordon over the years.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at the mortuary.
