Gordon Dixon Sanborn

Gordon Dixon Sanborn, born November 29, 1928 in Laconia, New Hampshire, son of Hobart D. and Erma A. Austin, died August 6, 2008 in Bountiful, Utah.

He married Dorothy Louise Spielman November 28, 1953 in Big Pool, Maryland, later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple, July 11, 1964.

Gordon graduated from the Laconia (New Hampshire) High School and William Jewell College (Liberty, Missouri) and American University (Washington D.C.).

He served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked with computer systems as programmer and systems analyst, which included work with the Project Mercury Space Program. He lived in New Hampshire, Maryland, Bermuda, California, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts, Virginia, Florida, and Utah. He traveled with his wife in 48 states and the western-most six provinces of Canada.

He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many positions, which included; High Councilor in the Frederick, Maryland Stake, Ordinance Worker in the Atlanta and Washington D.C. temples, and Church Service Missionary in the Historical Department. He wrote and published the book, "The Bible''s Jesus: The Messiah Few People Know."

He is survived by wife, Dotty; sons Kevin (Anita), Roderick (Debbie); daughter Karen (Robert); daughter-in-law Rebecca (Richard); brothers Malcolm, Russell, Laurence; 6 grandsons; 7 granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons Richard and Christopher.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2008, 11 a.m. at the Bountiful 22nd Ward, Stone Creek Stake Center, 990 N. 100 W. Friends may call Sunday, August 10 from 6-8 pm at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Monday 9:45-10:45 am at the church prior to the services. Interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the LDS Church Humanitarian Aid fund or the Salvation Army are requested.
