In loving memory of Scott Smith
Gordon “Scott” Smith, 56, of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Davis Hospital, on December 8, 2023, from battling cancer the past 11 months. He was born April 21, 1967 to Gordon R. Smith and Sherie Goold Smith in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was raised in Green river, Wyoming; Graduated from Green River High school in 1985.
He a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints
Scott moved to Utah where he met his wife, Jodi Lee Bloomfield and was married on October 31, 1998. He always joked he chose this date so he would never forget his anniversary. They were married for 22 years when Scott and Jodie decided they were ready for a new adventure and moved to New Port Richey, FL and spent 4 years enjoying Florida and scuba diving. Until diagnosed with esophageal stomach cancer in February 2023
Scott enjoyed being in the outdoors where he loved the water, his passion for water started when his dad bought a boat and he learned to water ski, from there it was matter of time before he decided to get Scuba certified. He loved scuba diving so much he wanted to share it with everyone. He was always learning and wanting to improve his skills. He traveled several different places for scuba diving. His most favorite place was The Federate States of Micronesia where he had the chance to dive the shipwrecks from World War II, in Chuuck (Truk Lagoon).
He is survived by; wife Jodie Smith, His parents Gordon R (Sherie) Smith, and 3 kids; son Nathan (Lisa) Hamblin, son Nicholas (Rebecca) Hamblin, daughter Autumn Hess; sister: Kimberlee (Dave) Haberkorn, Christena (Jason) Palmer, brother Lee (Tara) Smith, sister Lindsie (Chris Jennings) Smith, and 11 grandchildren
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Maurine Goold, and Reed and Ardis Smith
The family will be doing a celebration of life at a later time
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations for cancer research
