Grace Jane Record
June 21, 1927 ~ January 1, 2021
Grace Jane Record passed away due to natural causes at the age of 93, on Friday, January 1, 2021 in Layton, Utah.
Grace was born June 21, 1927 in Rock Springs Wyoming, to parents Hugh and Lillie Gregory. Grace grew up in the small mining town of Winton, Wyoming. She married Richard Evan Powell on April 3, 1948, and together they had three children, and later divorced. She later married and divorced Doug Record in 1977.
Grace lived in many states including Wyoming, Utah, Oregon, California, and Florida. Grace was a caretaker by nature and worked as a CNA and nanny for many years in California. She spoke fondly of those memories and had a special place in her heart for the family she cared for as a nanny. She loved living in Florida where she made close friends in her community and church.
She had a strong faith and never missed her morning and evening prayer. She read the bible daily and would often call to share a loving scripture with family and friends. She enjoyed western movies and TV programs, especially those with "her guy" John Wayne. She adored angels and collected many to adorn her home. She loved caramel, root-beer, black licorice, and the color green. But her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Barbara “Bobbie” Stewart; eight grandchildren, Billi (Chris) Thornock, Rick Stewart, Joey (Lynn) Moser, Dale (Stephanie) Fjeldsted, Chris (Carissa) Fjeldsted, Khristee Powell, and Shannon (Dave) Mares; twenty great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Lillie Gregory; siblings, Hugh, Lester, Gladwin, Allen, Bobby, Evelyn, and Juaneta; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Powell; son, Richard “Dick” Powell; son-in-law, Ralph Stewart; and grandson, Shane Fjeldsted.
The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Village where she resided for the last seven years for the love and care shown to her. She often spoke of their kindness.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date with close family and friends.
We loved her with all our heart of hearts and although we will miss her dearly, we are happy our little angel finally got her wings.
