Grace Meldrum Smith
KAYSVILLE a" Grace Meldrum Smith, 102, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, December 19, 2010.
Grace was born in Lovell, Wyoming on August 27, 1908, to John Forsyth and Grace Burton Rushforth Meldrum. The family later moved to Kaysville where she graduated from Davis High School.
She greatly enjoyed music, and was an accomplished pianist from an early age. She served as a church pianist and organist for most of her life.
She married Collins DeWitt Smith on January 14, 1937, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Kaysville most of their married lives where they raised five sons.
Grace and Collins served together in the Tallahassee, Florida Mission; and as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. Grace also served as a family history specialist for many years before genealogical records were computerized. In later life, she delighted in traveling, and visited many parts of the world. She was gifted at drawing, and completed many treasured works of art.
Grace is survived by her sons Collins (Olivia) Smith, David (Elaine) Smith, Alan (Marlane) Smith, Paul (Denise) Smith, and her many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Collins and two sons John Meldrum Smith and Richard Melvin Smith.
She was totally committed to the Savior in everything she did. Her unconditional love for family and friends has been her shining light and will ever be remembered and missed by those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Rock Chapel, 200 East Center Street. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
