CLEARFIELD a€" Grant Smith Cunning, 68, of Clearfield died Sunday, March 2, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born June 5, 1939 in Idaho Falls, ID, to Leslie G. and Nora Ida Smith.

Grant was a long time resident of Clearfield, graduating from Davis High in 1957. He continued his education, graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He was an avid airplane enthusiast from his youth. He built and designed model airplanes, which led to his love of building experimental manned aircraft. His proudest accomplishment was his completion of his "Starduster." He was a member of the Northern Utah Radio Controlled Airplane Club, a member of EAA, a member of AOPA, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a private pilot and loved to spend time flying and working on his planes.

Survived by his loving wife, Adele G. Cunning; two sons; Lyle Cunning (Diane) Farr West; Norman Cunning (Shanna) Clearfield; Myrlene (John) McLean, Littleton, CO; Teresa (Tim) Fellows; of Preston, ID; Angela Cunning of Clearfield. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a sister Orlene Bettis of Syracuse, NY.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield LDS 7th Ward, 231 East 300 North. Friends and family may call Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Church.
