Grant Calder Muir, 90, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Mtn. Ridge Assisted Living Center.
He was born September 9, 1918 in Randolph, Utah, a son of Lawrence Grant and Orrie Calder Muir. He was raised in Randolph and graduated from Rich County High School. He attended Utah State University. He lived in Ogden from 1941 to 1989; St. George from 1989 to 2006; and again in Ogden from 2006 to 2008.
On March 18, 1942, Grant married Dorothy Hansen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Grant was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission for two years in the Central States. Grant served as a Ward Clerk in the Ogden 17th Ward and the Washington Terrace 5th Ward. He taught Sunday School in the Ogden 60th Ward and served as an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple for 11 years.
He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Air Force.
Grant worked for the railroad for six months, J.G. Read Brothers and retired from Smith and Edwards following many years of service.
Grant loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He also loved to golf and square dance.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Hansen Muir, of Ogden; one son and one daughter, James Grant Muir, St. George; and Janet (Farley) Cornia, West Corrine; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Wendell (Martha) Muir, St. George; LaRell David (Nedra) Muir, St. George; Shana (Ken) Vernon, Woodruff; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding Grant in death were his parents.
The family expresses special thanks to the angels at Mtn. Ridge Assisted Living, and Alpine Hospice for the loving and considerate care of Grant.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer''s Association of Utah.
