SOUTH OGDEN a€" Our beloved loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Grant Pitcher Petersen passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 of causes incident to age.

He was born April 29, 1918 in Cornish, Utah, to Joseph and Margaret Pitcher Petersen.

Grant married Beth Bambrough on November 12, 1938.

Grant loved his family, his church and life itself. He was a good family man and loved his wife, son, daughter, four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He enjoyed outdoor sports with his family. His favorite family activity was mostly camping and driving trips. He liked to hunt and fish whenever he had spare time.

He graduated from Utah State University in 1941 with a degree in landscape architecture. Following graduation, he worked for a while as a railroad fireman until his enlistment into the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he sold life insurance for eight years during which time he earned a C.L.U. degree and taught principles of life insurance for two sessions at Weber State College. He spent the next four years working as a landscape architect for the LDS Church. In 1960, he began working for the city of Bountiful as City Planner for six years and City Manager for 15 years. While working for Bountiful City, he was active in the American Society of Landscape Architects and the International City Managers Association. He served as secretary and vice president of the Utah Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and as president of the Utah Section of the International City Managers Association. He also served on a steering committee to help plan the program for the International Conference of the City Managers Convention in Washington, D.C.

Grant was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served the church in many assignments including serving as a counselor in three Bishoprics and counselor in the Stake Presidency. He also served a mission with his wife in Ventura, California and in the Name Extraction program for over 15 years.

He is survived by two children, Wallace (Barbara) Petersen, Bountiful; Peggy (Les M.) Wassom, Grand Junction, CO.

Grant was preceded in death by his wife Beth.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 5th Ward Chapel, 5735 So. Crestwood Dr., with Bishop Lawrence Nelson officiating.

Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Uintah Cemetery.
