Grant C. Peterson
Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, Grant C. Peterson returned to our heavenly father on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, due to cancer.
He was born February 18, 1928 in Thatcher, Idaho, a son of Christian Peterson and Hansina Christiana Christensen Peterson.
He married the love of his life and soul mate, Elsie Dorothy Peck on August 28, 1947. They were later sealed in the Logan temple in January 29, 1965. They enjoyed 45 wonderful years and raised seven children together until she passed away from cancer in 1992. He married Rebecca Ann Barlow Ringler shortly after on July 1, 1992 and they were married for almost 25 years until she passed away in January of 2017.
He worked for the Utah Power and Light Company, holding many positions until he retired in 1983 as a Superintendent over the Pioneer Power Plant in Ogden, UT, overseeing many substations and employees. He was very well liked and respected within the company and community.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, traveling, dancing and took pride in his cars and they were always clean and polished. He always had a beautiful garden and enjoyed sharing crops with his family and friends or anyone else who needed it. He also enjoyed his fruit trees and shared the fruit as well. He had many hobbies, but he was truly happiest when he was with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his seven children. Grant LaVon Peterson (Barbara) St. George, UT; Dorothy LaRene Briggs, Layton, UT; Claude Christian Peterson (Shauna), Soda Springs, ID; Carla Faye Newman (Wayne), Layton, UT; Eldon John Peterson, (Ellen), Grace, ID; Peggy Lynn Peterson, Ogden, UT; and Brenda Jean Cook (James), West Haven, UT; 27 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He is also survived by seven stepchildren, twenty-three step grandchildren, fifteen step great grandchildren, and three more little angels arriving soon.
He is preceded in death by both of his sweethearts, both parents, two brothers and two sisters, two granddaughters, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Layton East Stake Center, 1015 N. Emerald Drive, Layton, UT. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.
Graveside services to follow at 3 pm in Grace, Idaho Cemetery.
