Grant Neil Rich

LAYTON – Grant Neil Rich, 67, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

He was born August 9, 1946 in Ogden, Utah the son of Grant Phelps and Clara Beth Peterson Rich.  Neil grew up on a small family farm in Morgan, Utah and participated in the 4H program as a child.   He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years during the VietnamWar.

Neil married Vicki Rae Newbold on October 25, 1973 in Salt Lake Temple.  He lived in Layton, Utah for 38 years where he raised his family.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Neil served a mission in the Texas Mission and held various church callings throughout his lifetime.

Neil retired from ATK after 25 years of service in the refurbishment area of the Space Shuttle Program.  For the past 27 years, he fought the Spinal Cerebellum Ataxia Disease.

He loved to assemble model cars, was very proud of his rose bushes, garden and enjoyed spending time with his entire family.

Surviving are his wife Vicki, sons, Dirk (Trina), Colby (Amanda), Marty (Meghan), six grandchildren, Skyler, Wesley, Emmalee, Matthew, Ethan and Bradley.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Von Rich.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Layton 17 th Ward, 1290 N. Church Street.  Friends and family may visit Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Pheasant View Assisted Living for the care and friendship they gave to him.
