G. Ray Ruppel of Hooper, Utah, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, July 9, 2021.
Ray was born in Forsyth, Montana to Chris and Mona Ruppel. He was raised in Kingston, Washington where he went to high school, playing on both the football and baseball teams.
During his senior year he met the love of his life, Sharon at the local church, youth group. They later married in 1958 and shared their life and love for over 62 years.
After high school, Ray started his career at St. Regis Door Mfg. and, through hard work, quickly worked his way to a manager position. He continued his career in custom door manufacturing where he held many positions and was able to travel the world. Ray retired as VP of Manufacturing at CE Morgan Door Company in Oshkosh, WI. After his retirement he and his wife moved to Bend, Oregon where they ran a successful horse ranch and Adult Foster Care Home for over 30 years before moving to Hooper, Utah.
Ray enjoyed working, all sports and reading biographies. His love of horses included trail riding, cattle round-ups and team penning. He prided himself on the upkeep of his ranch, keeping it looking like a manicured park. He enjoyed observing the wildlife that shared the property including dozens of deer, pheasants, owls, ducks, birds and chipmunks. His appreciation of the beauty that God created was never taken for granted. Ray’s life was focused on his faith, family and country.
Raised in a Christian home, he had a strong determination to follow God’s plan and prayed daily for his family. With strength and backbone, he was definitely the patriarch of his family. Although a man of few words, he possessed a strength of character and determination in guiding and protecting those he loved. He was the definition of a true patriot, he loved his country and his patriotism and love for the flag was unmatched and evident to all who knew him.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, his two sons Skip and Ray and sister Jean. Ray is survived by his wife, Sharon of Hooper, UT; two daughters, Faith and husband Gary Chmielewski of Sedro Wooley, WA and Carolyn Spicer of Hooper, UT; his sister Atina Lawson, sister and brother-in law Pat and Fred Rameau, sister June Christensen and sister and brother-in law Joyce and Ron Rada; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel, Kristin, Christian, Jordan, Trisha, Aaron, Alexis and Mackenzie as well as 18 great-grandchildren.
