Gregory George Ford passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.

 

Greg was born June 3, 1947 in Ogden, a son of George Arthur and Lorraine Barnes Ford. He grew up in Ogden, Utah and attended Ogden City schools, graduating from Ogden High School in 1965.

 

He joined the U.S. Navy in October of 1966 becoming a Physical Therapy Technician and ending tour of duty in March of 1971.

 

Greg entered Weber State College following his services with the Navy and worked at Weber County Hospital.

 

In November of 1971, he met his sweetheart. They dated for three years and were married May 17, 1974. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on May 23, 2015.

 

Greg worked at Hill Air Force Base as a sheet metal mechanic for over 35 years.

He retired in 2012.

 

Greg was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various callings. The calling he loved most was building cleaning coordinator. (He didn’t have to get up and publicly speak at church.)

 

He was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed family vacations including camping, traveling to historical sites and reading historical romance novels.

 

Greg is survived by his wife, Sharon, two daughters, Shannon (Hazen) Wardle, Kellie Weaver and one son, Andrew Ford; grandchildren, Alex Wardle, Zach Wardle and Abby Wardle; his sister, Pam (Kent)  Erickson, brothers-in-law, Dean Byington , Leon Byington, Brian Marquardt; sisters-in-law, Marge (Ken) Becraft,  Laurie (Ken) Byington, Delma Woodruff, Elaine Byington, Jane (Brian) Marquardt and Jean Spendlove.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Trent Gregory Wardle and Hailey Elizabeth Dawn Wardle: brothers-in-law, Kent Erickson, John Murphy, Ken Becraft, Ken Byington and sisters-in-law, Connie Murphy and Linda Byington.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Roy West Park Ward, 5080 South 3100 West, Roy, Utah. The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 4th at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, Roy, Utah and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

 

Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
