Gretel Anderson

Gretel Schmier Anderson, age 75 of Syracuse, Utah, died on July 2, 2018, in her home where she felt most loved by her family, friends, and ward family members.

Gretel was born on June 17, 1943 in Solingen, Germany to Christian Schmier and Elfriede Malters Schmier.   Gretel married her sweetheart Steven V. Anderson on September 2,

1970 and was sealed for time and all eternity in the California Oakland Temple.

She is survived by two sons, Krishaan (Amelia) Anderson, O’Fallon, Illinois, Karsten (Elizabeth) Anderson, Lubbock, Texas; seven grandchildren: Hiram, Annaleigh, Seth, Miriam,

Bethany, Luke, and Lydia Anderson; and her brother Armin (Marita) Schmier, Geneva, Switzerland.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elfriede Malters (1973), Solingen, Germany; her father Christian Schmier (1987), Ratzeburg, Germany; her sister Gudrun (Ralf-Dieter) Ohliger (14 Feb 2018), Solingen, Germany; and her husband Steven V. Anderson (20 Jan 2015), Syracuse, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Bluff Ridge Ward, 535 West 2700 South, Syracuse.  Friends may visit family from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, will be held at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.
