Guadalupe Stevens, 48, of Layton, Utah, passed away surrounded by her family on January 24, 2023, at her home after valiantly fighting an aggressive cancer for the past several years.
She was born April 28, 1974, to Lucia Campos. On July 15, 2011, she married the love of her life, Larry Stevens, in Canyon County, California. They enjoyed 22 wonderful years together and 11 years of marriage.
Lupe has lived in many places throughout her life: Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico; Pacoima, California; Oxnard, California; Canyon County, California; and called Layton, Utah. She called Layton home for the past decade.
Growing up, she was raised in the Catholic faith. She later joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Both religions were very important to Lupe. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ. Lupe loved God and her fellowmen. She lived a life of service. She was a great example to everyone who met her. She loved people and remembered everyone’s name. Lupe always stood up for what she thought was good and right.
Lupe loved to dance, cook, spend time with family, and spend time with her dogs (Stitch and Smokey), and cats (Pumpkin, Ella, and Tigger).
She is survived by her husband, Larry Stevens; stepdaughter, Catherine Stevens (35); stepson, Ryan Stevens (33); son, David Van Meter (29); daughters, Beatrice Rodreguez (28), Christina Van Meter (27), and Elizabeth Stevens (21); mother, Lucia Campos; brothers, Samuel Napoles, Fidel Napoles, Juan Napoles, Miguel Napoles, Rene Napoles, Adolfo Napoles; sister, Rocio Johnson; grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Lupe was preceded in death by her sister, Margarita Napoles.
Funeral service are to be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at The Hobbs Creek Ward Chapel, 2505 Church Street, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment to be held in California.
